California Legislative Event
March 10-11, 2010 Sacramento, CA
Whats Really What in Sacramento?
Digital textbooks, suspended adoptions, and a broadening definition
of instructional materialsduring the past year, these and
other bellwether actions by the California legislature have shaken
the status quo. Do these changes mean upheaval or opportunity for
supplemental materials?
AEP is holding its first state legislative event in Sacramento
that includes a two-part program. First, participants will sit in
on a meeting of the California legislatures education committee
followed by an inside briefing on the state of education funding
in California, the real and anticipated changes in how purchasing
will be done, and the implications and prospects for non-basal publishers.
Second, participants will get their chance to open a dialogue about
the importance of access and of quality, differentiated instructional
options to successful learning outcomes. The event will include
pre-arranged appointments in the offices of key education committee
members followed by a lunch in the Capitol with available committee
members and their staffs.
The AEP delegation in Sacramento will be assisted and escorted
by Elizabeth Jiminez, CEO of the educational consulting and advocacy
firm GEMAS Consulting.
